Emma's Epicurean Adventures
Monday, July 10th, 2006Over the last few weeks Emma has tried a lot of new flavours. Peas, carrots, and sweet potatoes have been favourites, while green beans, squash, and barley cereal, well, not so much
Today, we tried Minigo(http://www.yoplait.ca/minigo/en/minigo.aspx/) for the first time and as you can see from these pictures, Emma was not too impressed:
She much preferred the Baby Mum Mum biscuit we tried a bit later:
Of course, Emma seems perfectly content to nibble on her own toes, too
Sitting Pretty
Thursday, July 6th, 2006I realized this morning that one year ago today, I was admitted to hospital when I was 19 weeks pregnant. That was the start of five long weeks of bedrest which ended with Emma’s very early birth at 24 weeks. Wow. In many ways, it doesn’t seem like it was a whole year ago. When we look at Emma now, it’s hard to believe she started out so small (just shy of 1 lb., 8 oz.) She just seems huge to us now…
Emma continues to do well. She’s rolling all the time now and is getting stronger week by week. She’s sitting up well, but still has a tendency to topple over, especially when she lunges for one of her toys
I’ve seen other bloggers mention that their babies were using a Bumbo seat ( http://www.bumbo.com/ ) but I hadn’t found them in stores around town. These seats allow babies to sit upright and it helps them develop the trunk control they need to sit up on their own. I had discussed the seat with the physiotherapist we saw at CHEO back in May and she thought it would be a good idea as it would help Emma to strengthen her torso muscles. Emma also has to sit upright for 30 minutes after each feed (due to her reflux), so this seat should be useful in that regard, too.
A couple of weeks ago, we happened to be in Toys ‘R Us, and lo and behold, the seats were on display in the store, so we brought one home.
Emma has been sitting pretty ever since:
